We’re thrilled to share that Wallpaper* has spotlighted Abitazione—the Florence aparthotel crafted by Recdi8 and SpaceStudio for This Time Tomorrow—in their August 1, 2025, review titled “At this elegant new aparthotel in Florence, local living is done right.”
Wallpaper* opens by celebrating the brand’s ethos:
“Ahead of check‑in, each guest receives a tailored questionnaire designed to capture their interests. Based on the responses, the in‑house team of resident curators organise personalised itineraries that pair exquisitely with the considered interiors of the residences.”
Design that Resonates with Real Lives
The interiors, born from a collaboration between SpaceStudio and Recdi8, offer a refined distillation of Florentine style: “channel the Renaissance without falling into pastiche”. Wallpaper* elaborates:
Recdi8 took a more narrative approach. “We imagined a fictional Florentine family living here for generations; refined, well‑travelled, invested in the arts,” says interior designer Norbert Frei. “Each era would leave its mark, layering tastes and textures over time. The result is a layered, eclectic atmosphere, where distinct elements from different eras coexist in harmonious dialogue.”
This quote underscores Recdi8’s ethos: crafting spaces not as static showcases, but as living narratives—where design unfolds over time and tells a story.
Layering Heritage With Contemporary Poise
Wallpaper* notes the building’s original bones—towering vaulted ceilings, terrazzo flooring, original molding—paired with thoughtful restoration and elegant updates: “moody, mossy greens” for accent walls, preserved decorative banding, and frescoes brought to life without compromise to authenticity.
Each of the eight apartments derives personality from art, heritage, and materiality: playful names like Crepuscolo (dawn) and 1 AM (with its private terrace) hint at both tone and intimacy .
An Immersive Experience of Place
Wallpaper* emphasizes the experiential dimension—thoughtful minibars stocked with local treats, curation via questionnaire, and bespoke services by a cultural curator—all elevated by the tailored interiors.
Design Ethos in Practice
What this feature beautifully illustrates is Recdi8’s approach in action:
-
Narrative Design: Envisioning a layered family history enables interiors to feel both personal and universal.
-
Respect for Place: Restoration balances the building’s neoclassical architecture with refined modern touches.
-
Emotion Through Detail: Materials—velvet, brass, fresco—are chosen to resonate, not merely decorate.
-
Hospitality as Storytelling: Interiors become immersive, giving guests the sense of being part of a living, breathing Florentine home.

About This Time Tomorrow
This Time Tomorrow is a creative hospitality studio that crafts deeply immersive, culturally sensitive places to stay. Rather than building traditional hotels, TTT creates residences—spaces designed to feel lived in, not staged.
Each project begins with a single, powerful question: What would it feel like to belong here, even just for a while?
Founded by Pierre Ferland and Thomas Odenthal, the studio is rooted in curatorship, not just accommodation. Their experiences are tailored, intimate, and reflective of place—whether you’re exploring spice souks in Marrakech or frescoed corridors in Florence. Guests are invited into cinematic, layered, and soul-stirring environments, guided by local experts, artists, and craftspeople.
Abitazione is a quintessential example of their approach: a heritage palazzo reborn as a canvas for storytelling and slowness.

About the Florence Project
Abitazione is an 8-residence neoclassical palazzo in Florence’s leafy Le Cure district—an area known more for daily rhythm than postcard clichés. Conceived by This Time Tomorrow and brought to life through a collaboration between SpaceStudio and Recdi8, the project is a love letter to Florence’s evolving identity.
Original frescoes were uncovered and restored. Brass detailing, velvet textures, and moody paint tones were introduced. And with every decision, Recdi8 asked: What memories would these walls hold if they had been lived in for generations?
From Milanese-style bathrooms to framed Dali lithographs, Abitazione feels less like a hotel and more like the Florentine home of a worldly, art-loving family. Each space is named for a feeling or moment in the day—Crepuscolo, 1 AM, Siesta—reinforcing the experience as one that is entirely personal and poetic.
It’s not just a stay—it’s a slice of life lived beautifully.

What defines our work is not a singular style, but a perspective: that beauty is found in intention, and spaces come alive when they feel lived in, not just looked at.
