Seafront Apartment Renovation – Sitges, Spain

The duplex apartment is in a postmodern residential complex by the sea. It was renovated a few years ago but looked already dated and dark.

Recdi8 Living opened the entrance area to the living room to make it more spacious and added storage to the four bedrooms without avoiding making them smaller.

Mat white walls and light sand color for inbuilt wardrobes and shelves, light oak parquet, white linen curtains, and natural color shades also for the furniture create a relaxing atmosphere.

The kitchen and dining area are placed on the upper floor next to the gorgeous terrace. Also, here, Recdi8 has chosen light, neutral colors that contrast with the blue sky, the turquoise sea, and the green of the palm trees.

The measure made outdoor kitchen made of stainless steel is so robust that the extreme sea climate can’t damage it. The roof of the two pergolas can be fully opened for sunbathers or covered when cooling shadow is needed.

Design Notes

Foyer: The walls of the entrance area are completely covered with matt lacquered MDF boards. Two closets and the door to the children’s bedroom are hidden behind it. The rounded corners lead gently over to the open living room.

Shelf: The custom-made shelf is integrated into the wall paneling, which straightens the sloping wall and thus creates a regular shape of the room. To the left, a hidden door leads to a storage room.

Home Office:  The desk and shelf are custom-made and integrated into the living room. The table top is made of oak, matching the parquet. The furniture, like the wall paneling, is painted matt pebble grey. The upholstered chair is by Busnelli, and the table lamp is by Flos. The light switches and sockets are from Jung.

Bedroom: The padded window sill serves as a headboard. The relatively small space can be used efficiently with this unusual positioning of the bed. The cobalt blue MDF, marble and glass bedside tables are by Busnelli, the lamps by Aromas del Campo and the linen curtains by Dedar.

Bedroom: Two cupboards, speakers, and A&C grids are integrated into the wall paneling. The mirror is from AYTM.

Bedside Tables: The cobalt blue MDF, marble and glass bedside tables are by Busnelli, the lamps by Aromas del Campo and the linen curtains by Dedar.

Bathroom:  The drawers under the sinks are custom-made. The white corian vanity, the taps, the mirror cabinet, and the ceramic tiles on the walls are all from Azul Acocsa.

Stairs: The curved staircase is a bespoke design by Recdi8 Living. The walls here are made of robust, smoothed lime stucco.

TERRACE DESIGN

Bespoke Stair Design

Terrace:

The fantastic location in Sitges, Barcelona, right by the sea has only one disadvantage: extreme weather conditions. But Dedon’s furniture was created for these extremes. The high-quality materials withstand heat, cold and storms.

The handmade plant pots are from Atelier Vierkant. The selection of Mediterranean plants adapted to the extreme climate is by Recdi8 Living.

Outdoor Kitchen:

The custom-made stainless steel kitchen withstands the most extreme weather conditions.

Terrace Shower:

The shower is by Bossini Cristina.

LIVING ROOM DESIGN

Living Room Design

The large L-shaped sofa from Arflex is upholstered in a sand-colored linen fabric.

The armchair and footstool are in cobalt blue, and the small tables are also from Arflex.

The floor lamp is from CTO.

The white curtains are made from a fine linen fabric from Dedar.

The reduced color palette – white, sand gray, and cobalt blue – and the natural materials – oak wood, linen fabric, and wool – create a calm, Mediterranean atmosphere.

KITCHEN DESIGN

Kitchen Design

The functional, minimalistic kitchen is by Poggenpohl and the kitchen appliances are by Miele and Bora, the bar stools by Gubi, the porcelain candle holder by Bosa and the watering can by AYTM.

The oval table with a ceramic top is from Sovet Italia and the upholstered chairs are from Gubi. The small cabinet in the background is a bar with an integrated humidor for cigars.
